GWP at Water Consultations in Liberia

On the margins of the outreach meeting of the Post 2015 UN High Level Panel of Eminent Persons, the global water community held thematic consultations on water on 29th and 30th of January 2013 in Monrovia, Liberia with the participation of The President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

GWP Senior Network officer François Brikké participated at the water consultation which aimed to facilitate discussions from a broad range of stakeholders to review progress on the MDGs, kick-start consensus building around key future challenges in water and the need to address water in the post-2015 development agenda. The consultations covered three thematic sub-consultations “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)”, “Water Resources Management” and “Wastewater Management and Water Quality”.

GWP lead a session at the meeting on "Water Resources Management" together with the EU Water Initiative Africa Working Group (EUWI AWG), the Africa Development Bank and the Africa Water and Sanitation Department of the Africa Development Bank (OWAS). The main purpose of the session is to review and discuss progress made in implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management in Africa and its contribution to achieving Millennium Development Goals.
