GWP’s VISION is a water secure world. Our MISSION is to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

A network of networks, we ensure the ‘voices of water’ can inﬂuence local, national, regional, and global development priorities. GWP Regions

This is where you can find links to the websites of our Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs). RWPs are closest to the countries where we work. They share knowledge and learning across national boundaries and are expected to have an open, inclusive, and gender-sensitive policies for bringing together as wide a group of stakeholders as possible to solve water problems.

GWP present at UK launch of new policy

GWP Chairperson Letitia A. Obeng, GWP Senior Advisor Alan Hall, and GWP-Technical Committee member Patricia Wouters attended the Department for International Development's (DFID) launch of a New Water and Sanitation Policy for Africa and Asia on October 28 in London.

According to a DFID news release, "the policy will see DFID work to meet its £200 million commitment to address the serious water and sanitation challenges that condemn people in the developing world to poverty, hardship, disease and death." The steps that will be taken are set out in the paper, "Water: An increasingly precious resource, Sanitation: A matter of dignity" and is available on the DFID website.

The new policy was introduced by International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander. GWP Chairperson Obeng welcomed the focus on sanitation and water resources management, and commended DFID as an example to other bilaterals and donors. Obeng highlighted the importance of wastewater managment, especially given unprecedented urbanisation. She also urged water experts to get out of the water box in order to address the entire development community.
