Meet GWP at World Water Week 2013

GWP is a Collaborating Partner of the 2013 World Water Week, and will be convening and participating in many of the events happening 1-6 September in Stockholm. GWP will also launch several new publications, as well as a brand new website for the IWRM ToolBox.

The new and improved IWRM ToolBox website will be launched on stage in the exhibition hall on Monday 2 September at 16.10-16.30. Senior Knowledge Management Officer Danka Thalmeinerova will be there to present the website and answer questions.

Three new Policy Briefs will be available at the GWP booth B01:21 throughout the week:

  • “Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM): Toward Diversification and Sustainability” outlines how IUWM can provide a framework for planning, designing, and managing urban water systems.
  • “International Law: Facilitating Transboundary Water Cooperation” explains the importance of cooperation between states in order to resolve water problems and share limited resources.
  • “The Economic Value of Moving Toward a More Water Secure World” explains why it is important to understand the economic value of water security compared to other priorities.

Additionally, the new Perspectives Paper “Urban Groundwater – Policies and Institutions for Integrated Management” will be available at the booth. It offers an overview of the benefits of urban groundwater use, along with a discussion on some of the persistent problems related to this.

All papers are based on GWP Background Papers and publications by the network’s Technical Committee, which is a group of internationally recognised water experts. The material is for free and can be downloaded via the GWP home page or ordered in printed format via gwp@gwp.org.
