GWP Costa Rica was a key player in this, first working to develop the national strategy and then providing technical support and training to civil society organisations and public sector agencies. GWP Costa Rica involvement ensured meaningful debate and broad consultation. Success stemmed from a better understanding of IWRM, an awareness of the importance of community participation and from drawing on the strengths of the various institutions concerned with water issues. The launch of the plan is an opportunity to bring together all water-related sectors and provide training on water financing to ensure sustainable funding.
