The roundtable proposed recommendations for legislative regulation, taking into account differences of existing dams, historical water mills and mill ponds. Based on the recommendations, owners of dams, rural municipalities and environmental institutions are preparing measures for decreasing flood risk.
In a separate event that received wide media attention, GWP Estonia and its host institution, the Estonian Water Association, in cooperation with Parnu University, organized an Estonian Water Day Conference on April 6. Conference topics included water quality standards, water quality modeling, flood protection legislation elaboration, and the Parnu River basin management plan.
