Decision makers trained in river basin approach in Southeast Asia

GWP Southeast Asia supported two Regional Training of Trainers Courses on Capacity Building in River Basin Organizations (RBO) in collaboration with other international agencies in March and April 2010.

Held in Myanmar, the purpose of the first course was to improve the effectiveness of applying IWRM for sustainable management of water resources. Forty participants attended, including 10 facilitators and organizers. One result is greater awareness of the need to introduce new institutional arrangements for water resources management. The second training was held in Vietnam on Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills For IWRM.

These RBO activities are building on from the major regional RBO and management event convened by the region in June 2009.
