VFDM trains country actors on the MyDewetra-VOLTALARM forecasting system

From Thursday 6 to Friday 8 July 2022, a regional workshop was held in Lomé to train stakeholders from the member countries of the Volta Basin Authority on the MyDewetra-VOLTALARM forecasting system. This regional workshop, organised by the implementing partners of the consortium including VBA, GWP-WA and IUCN was a follow-up to the one held from 04 to 05 July 2022 on the finalisation of the development of a regional programme focusing Nature-based Solutions (NBS) in the Volta Basin.

Danube Floodplain to Mitigate Climate Extremities - Press Release

Bucharest, 4 November 2021 - The Danube Floodplain project which was launched to examine how to reduce flood risk with the restoration of floodplains in the Danube River Basin comes to an end this November. The project partners presented the results of the project at a closing conference which was held online on 3-4 November 2021.

River Basin Organisations – Key to Transboundary Water Cooperation

GWP and Wuhan International Water Law Academy are collaborating on a series of events called the “Transboundary freshwater security governance train”. In six online sessions, key topics on transboundary water cooperation are highlighted, with examples from different locations around the globe. The third session took place on 16 March on the topic, “River Basin Organisations (RBOs) and the Implementation of Treaty Commitments”, with about 140 participants. Experts agree that RBOs play a key role in international water law implementation – this session explained why.

Applying the Source-to-Sea approach for healthy rivers in Douala, Cameroon

In response to a request made by the Urban Council of Douala during the June 2020 GWP-Cameroon Steering committee meeting, GWP-Cameroon with the support of GWPO is working on a Source to Sea approach project to better manage plastic waste to ensure healthy rivers in Cameroon’s economic capital, Douala.
