The Central Africa Republic Country Water Partnership (CWP Central Africa Republic) has designated a new Chair for its Technical and Scientific Committee.
Organised in the context of the SEE Nexus Project that is supported by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and implemented by GWP-Med in partnership with the UNECE.
The Project Preparation Platform was established in 2018 to provide a structured resource for African countries to access continued strategic and technical support in the prioritisation and preparation of climate resilient water projects for financing by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and other climate funds.
GWP-Med is co-organising upcoming events focusing on facilitating investments in the water sector, the role of gender in water diplomacy and mobilizing Young Professionals in the fight to meet the SDGs at Cairo Water Week 2020.
In December 2020, GWP welcomed six new members on its Steering Committee, adding to seven members who have served longer. The Committee acts as a Board of Directors for the GWP Network and the GWP Organisation (GWPO). The members rotate every three or six years. Now, for the first time, a Permanent Youth Seat has been added. Jamilla Sealy from Barbados is the new representative on this seat. “Being the first youth, and also being a female of African descent and from the Caribbean, which are often under-represented in the global sphere, makes it a humbling experience”, she says about her appointment.

Global Water Partnership, Central Africa (GWP-CAf) held its 14th Steering Committee (SC) meeting virtually on November 12 - 13, 2020. The special steering committee meeting was attended by twelve of the fourteen GWP-CAf SC members and the entire GWP-CAf secretariat.
