Malawi’s WASH Sector Working Group approves Response Strategies developed under the Global Water Leadership Programme

Three response strategies to Malawi's major challenges in the water sector were presented and approved by the country's Sector Working Group for WASH on Wednesday, 7 February 2023.The meeting, which was attended by representatives from various players in the sector, took place at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe. The three response strategies are addressing the sector’s major challenges, including inadequate financing and investments, lack of political will and leadership and weak coordination.

Roadmap towards reversing Biodiversity Loss in the Pungwe River Basin Ecosystems -a lifeline for People, Wildlife, and the Economy

The Pungwe River basin, shared by Zimbabwe and Mozambique, is rich in plant and animal diversity. However, the ecosystem is now under threat from human activities. In 2023, Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) commissioned an Environmental Flow (EFlows) assessment to understand how the Pungwe River Basin and its ecosystems work, the findings of which will help in managing the river and protecting its natural environment.

GWP-WA held this Saturday, December 2, 2023 the 11th Partners Assembly under the theme: ''Accelerating the achievement of SDG6 in a context of security crisis in West Africa: Challenges, Innovative Strategies and Contributions of Partnerships''. Stakeholders in the Central African Republic validate the national response strategy

Over fifty stakeholders from government institutions, civil society organizations, NGOs, private companies, local communities, and technical and financial partners met at the Hotel Oubangui, Bangui, on February 7th, 2024, to validate the national response strategy to barriers hindering the implementation of resilient water resources in the country.
