In December 2020, GWP welcomed six new members on its Steering Committee, adding to seven members who have served longer. The Committee acts as a Board of Directors for the GWP Network and the GWP Organisation (GWPO). The members rotate every three or six years. Now, for the first time, a Permanent Youth Seat has been added. Jamilla Sealy from Barbados is the new representative on this seat. “Being the first youth, and also being a female of African descent and from the Caribbean, which are often under-represented in the global sphere, makes it a humbling experience”, she says about her appointment.
Darío Soto-Abril took up his new role as GWP Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on 1 March. In this interview, he shares his vision for the network at a time when GWP celebrates its 25th Anniversary. He also reflects on his personal view of water, as he answers the World Water Day 2021 question on what water means to him. Global Water Partnership, Central Africa (GWP-CAf) held its 14th Steering Committee (SC) meeting virtually on November 12 - 13, 2020. The special steering committee meeting was attended by twelve of the fourteen GWP-CAf SC members and the entire GWP-CAf secretariat.

After a successful first phase of implementation of the TonFuturTonClimat initiative (2018-2020), a second phase has been accepted following the February 2020 call for projects of the International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP).
GWP WA is coordinating the reporting on the SDG 6.5.1 indicator by UNEP through the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme with GWP support in the region. Monitoring and reporting on SDG indicator 6.5.1 in countries are based on a self-assessment survey.
