As a 32-year-old raised and living in Tunisia and a GWP-Med team member working on its MENA agenda, Dr Sondos Njoumi has a unique insight into youth and women’s mindset in relation to sustainability efforts for environmental and water issues.

Michèle Okala coordinates the work of RECOJAC – the Network of Water and Climate Organisations of Central African Youth. The water users of the Gbadohouin hydrological unit faced problems related to the weak governance of the resource. To address this situation, a Local Water Committee (LWC) was established.
Reducing the emission of greenhouse gases by 35% and reinforcing climate adaptation is a part of Cameroon’s main 2035 emergence agenda. The country’s National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (NAP) which was adopted in 2015 is pivotal to the achievement of this objective and after the first five years of its implementation, an end-of-phase evaluation was carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED) in collaboration with GWP-Cameroon.
