The Challenge: Inadequate country capacity to prepare GCF water projects

Related to the GCF, the workshop will focus on building capacity of, strengthening collaboration among, and sharing lessons across the GCF National Designated Authority (NDA), Direct Access Entities (DAEs) and potential DAEs, and water ministries or national water agencies within a country, and across country. Coordination among these national level mechanisms for successful preparation and participation in the workshop will serve as a useful example of similar cross-institutional coordination required to access other climate funds.

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) together with the International Authority on Development (IGAD), the Water Hub, the Africa Network on Basin Organizations (ANBO), UNECE, Makerere University and other partners organized a regional training on Water Governance and International Water Law for Transboundary Water Management in Africa in Entebbe, Uganda from 25-27 June 2018

A book on Sri Lanka’s history of irrigation

The book “Hela Wari Purawatha” – a research on Sri Lanka’s history of irrigation from the beginning to modern times in Sinhala was launched by the Mahaweli Centre, and presented to President Maithripala Sirisena at President’s office on the 19 June 2018.
