Theory of the Framework

The Strategic Framework is grounded in a core objective: to provide sustainable WASH service delivery both now and into the future. The emphasis is on climate resilient development, including strengthening the resilience of WASH systems, and on investments to manage current and long-term climate variability.

Fighting corruption in the water sector and sanitation in Benin

    Since 2015, the Country Water Partnership of Benin (Benin CWP) initiated with the support of the Water Integrity Network (WIN) the development of a charter for good governance in the frame of the Multiannual Programme for the promotion of integrity in the area of water and sanitation in Benin. A working group with the support of a consultant led the drafting process of the Charter. From October 2015 to date, the Charter was developed, and stakeholders were consulted on its contents as well as its operationalization mechanism that was also developed.

    AWF/ GWP hold capacity-building workshop on Integrated Urban Water Management

    In line with the GWP strategic thematic area on urbanisation, GWP is collaborating with AfDB – Africa Water Facility and Partners to support the region and countries in Africa to address challenges related to water management in urban areas in cities in Africa. In view of this, a capacity building workshop on IUWM was held from 25th to 28th January in Abidjan, Ivory Coast aimed at contributing to the well-being of the urban population of Africa by improving water and wastewater services through the implementation of an integrated approach.

    Tanzania Water Partnership nominated to the National Multi-Sectoral Forum on WRMD in Tanzania

    Tanzania Water Partnership (TWP) has been recognized and nominated by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in Tanzania to be a member of the National Multi-Sectoral Water Resources Management Forum. The forum is meant to serve as a national platform for discussing and deliberating on Integrated Water Resources Management and development issues involving wide stakeholder interests, water related institutions and sectors.

    “Strengthening Water Governance through Integrity and Sustainable Financing”

    This article is part of a wider coverage of the “MENA Focus” events, a set of four regional sessions dedicated to the Middle East & North Africa, officially launched at the Stockholm World Water Week 2016, alongside the Regional Days for Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) had been selected and serves as the overall coordinator for these “MENA Focus” events. The sessions were organized in partnership with a number of international regional institutions and organisations. “Strengthening Water Governance through Integrity and Sustainable Financing” was the second out of the four sessions, held on the 30th of August.

    Stage 1 support for SDG 6.5.1 reporting in 2017-2018

    During the 2017-2018 data drive conducted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) to establish the baseline for SDG indicator 6.5.1, the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme supported countries in convening multi-stakeholder consultation workshops to determine the current status of IWRM implementation and collect and discuss the official country data.
