WASH Climate Resilience Webinar

With the incidence of droughts and flooding increasing, WASH Climate Resilience has been identified as an important priority for the GWP network and its sector partners. In response to this, GWP joined forces with UNICEF to develop a Strategic Framework for WASH Climate Resilience and technical programming guidance to implement the Framework in countries.

ECCAS and GWP- CAf work together to develop hydro-meteorological regional strategy for Central Africa.

Within the context of the partnership ECCAS-GWP signed in December 2013, a meeting held in Libreville, Gabon from 29th to 31st of July 2015 brought together the two parties.

The meeting aimed at assessing the progress made in the process of developing a regional strategy and action plan for hydrological and meteorological services in Central Africa on the one hand and take stock of the process of the creation and operationalization of the Regional Solidarity Fund for Water following the submission of the final document to ECCAS for validation on the other hand.

Leading Drought Experts Launch HelpDesk for Drought-impacted Populations

Water insecurity costs the global economy roughly US$ 500 billion annually and causes the death and displacement of more people than cyclones, floods and earthquakes combined. In particularly vulnerable economies, a 50% reduction in drought effects could lead to a 20% increase in per capita GDP over a period of 30 years. Therefore, mechanisms to enhance integrated drought management are more critical than ever.
