The IDMP Project manager participated to the commemoration of the African Environment Day "Wangari Maathai Day" of the African Union in Addis Ababa from 1 to 06 March 2016. The opportunity was good to learn about several African initiatives driven by women and enable their empowerment and financial independence.
The Mauritius Youth Water Network (MYWN) is an association comprising youth from different organisations (government, NGOs and other civil society organisations). The MYWN was set up in June 2015 following a National Youth Forum during the SADC Water Week. The forum brought together youth leaders to develop a national action plan for the implementation of the AMCOW Policy and Strategy on Mainstreaming Youth in the Water and Sanitation Sector and SADC Youth Strategy.
The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA) is seeking to recruit an Executive Secretary for GWPSA to be based in the regional Secretariat in Pretoria, South Africa. This is a senior position that will carry the responsibility of managing and implementing GWPSA’s strategies and programmes (regional and continental), as well as well as developing and nurturing political and programmatic relationships with key institutions and GWP Partners, for meaningful and effective delivery of the programmes.

A capacity building workshop focusing on project preparation and financing in Zimbabwe for climate resilient projects was held at Monteclair Hotel in Nyanga from the 26th to the 28th of July 2015. The workshop was attended by 21 participants from selected government Ministries, such as the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate (MEWC). The workshop was aimed at equipping selected participants with information, knowledge and practical skills in the preparation of proposal writing involving mini hydro projects for possible funding. The feasibility study focused on Siya Dam mini hydro power generation project.
The United Nations World Water Day (WWD) is celebrated on March 22nd each year. This year’s (2016) WWD theme is “Water and Jobs.”
