Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) Training of Trainers (ToT) on ‘Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development in Africa’ - Contribution to national adaptation plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) – will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 25th to 29th November 2013.
A sustainable sanitation workshop was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 4-5 April. The event drew parallels among different toolboxes and programmes and enabled networking among experts in the GWP Central and Eastern Europe region.
In the Maghreb region food security relies mainly on irrigated agriculture. Centralized water management which lack water users’ involvement causes problems in the quality and quantity of the resource. Alternative models, which include the management of water by users, have strengthened the innovation of small scale irrigation systems and supported the initiation of cooperatives and networks. This case illustrates the value of small scale solutions, cooperation and training.

There is a need for stakeholders to be organized, capacitated and empowered in order to be effectively involved in decision-making processes in the development and management of shared water resources, improved climate resilience, poverty alleviation and ensuring that water resources are secure. With that objective in mind, GWP SA through the Namibia Water Partnership conducted its first training workshop aimed at broadening stakeholder participation in Transboundary Water Resources Management in the Orange – Senqu basin.
