Water, Climate and Development Programme in South America

The Water, Climate and Development Programme in South America has been developed to support the integration of water security and adaptation to climate change into development planning processes and investment, promoting Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) as a key strategy.

The overall objective of the Programme is to contribute towards better water governance in Peru by demonstrating how improved transectoral interaction is an effective strategy to achieve water security and develop resilience to climate change for sustainable development.

The programme is a joint effort carried out in close coordination with GWP Partners in Peru, including the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and other national and local government organisations, academic organisations such as the Pontificial Catholic University of Peru and Universidad Nacional Agria La Molina, as well as NGOs and BOs. It builds on several years of experience supporting IWRM processes in the country.
