GWP Regions

This is where you can find links to the websites of our Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs). RWPs are closest to the countries where we work. They share knowledge and learning across national boundaries and are expected to have an open, inclusive, and gender-sensitive policies for bringing together as wide a group of stakeholders as possible to solve water problems.

GWP in Water Dialogue with the UN

GWP Chair Oyun Sanjaasuren and GWP Technical Committee Chair Jerome Delli Priscoli participated in a UN General Assembly Water Dialogue and a Special Event on World Water Day, 22 March, in New York. Experts discussed how to improve integration and coordination of the UN's work on the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As part of the Water Dialogue, Dr Sanjaasuren participated in a panel themed "Role of the UN system: improving the integration and coordination to support the Member States and other relevant stakeholders in the implementation and follow-up of water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

This discussion was very much applicable to GWP, said Dr Sanjaasuren: "To successfully fulfil the SDGs, Member State Partners at the regional, national and sub-national level will be required, with partners from government, civil society, the scientific community and the private sector, both in and outside the water community. The interlinkages between the goals and targets demand this for optimal implementation. GWP already has these platforms in place in more than 80 countries."

On the same day, both Dr Sanjaasuren and Dr Delli Priscoli took part in the UN Special Event "Priority Actions for Water and Disasters in the next Decade". Dr Sanjaasuren presented the GWP/WMO joint initiatives on flood and drought.

Dr Delli Priscoli, Chair of Technical Committee, GWP, highlighted aspects for water and disasters and introduced products of the GWP Technical Committee regarding model collaboration, cost benefit analysis and disaster insurance.
