Julie Perkins of GWOPA: Why Water Utilities Should Share Their Change Journey

GWOPA’s Julie Perkins talks about the role of water operators and explains why everyone should submit their change journey to the Water ChangeMaker Awards, get recognition and share their solutions with the rest of the world. “The very courageous and visionary people and institutions, who have taken bold leadership to climate action should really be credited with this”.

Julie Perkins is Officer in Charge of the Secretariat at UN-Habitat's Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA)“Those people who have led this kind of work are particularly aware of how challenging it has been and how important it is to support others in this kind of journey. And I think this is why sharing a journey with the Water ChangeMaker Awards is so important that can really inspire and empower others to take on the same kind of path."

In the below video interview, Julie Perkins also shares her views on what and how water decisions are taken by water operators that contribute to building climate resilience, and the importance of climate resilience in the context of the COVID19 pandemic.

We are very proud to be partners in the Water ChangeMaker Awards, because climate resilience is absolutely urgent and fundamental to utilities, sustainability and the achievement of all the Sustainable Development Goals, says Julie“We believe very strongly that peers and peer professionals can inspire and empower and change like nothing else.

GWOPA is one of the partners in the Water ChangeMaker Awards. GWOPA’s purpose is to support and scale up knowledge exchange and peer partnerships between utilities in order to strengthen their capacity to provide services sustainably and over the long term.
