Towards IWRM Action Plans in Panama and Nicaragua

Panama and Nicaragua are one step closer to formulating IWRM Action Plans. During the month of October, both countries’ Ministries of Environment carried out national IWRM Action Plan consultations to identify and formulate priority measures to respond to the challenges of water resources management, with technical and financial support from GWP Central America.

Towards an International High-Level Panel for Climate Resilience Water Investments in Africa at COP26

In an event on the margins of the World Leaders Summit at COP26, former Tanzanian leader and Chair of Global Water Partnership Southern Africa and Africa Coordination, H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete called on the international community to support the establishment of an International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa, which is urgently needed to accelerate investments in water security on the continent.

Public service planners and civil society representatives in Cameroon trained on gender

In line with the third principle of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) on the role of women and to promote the Gender Transformative Approach in the water and climate sector, the Cameroon Country Water Partnership (GWP-Cmr) organized a gender training for public service planners and civil society organizations from October 25th to 26th 2021 in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Integrating water into the National Adaptation Plan process

On 21 October 2021, GWP and GWPSA supported the National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP), implemented by UNEP and UNDP with funding from the Global Environment Facility, in convening a webinar which explored Integrating Climate Risks in the Water Sector” with a focus on National Adaptation Plan (NAP) formulation.

Namibian President H.E. Dr. Hage Geingob nominated as Co-Chair of International High Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa

The Executive Committee of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) has formally noted and welcomed the nomination of His Excellency Dr. Hage Gottfried Geingob, the President of the Republic of Namibia, and the current host country of the Presidency of AMCOW as Co-Chair of the International High-Level Panel on Water Investments for Africa.
