Competition for environmental art in the Danube river basin

Jointly organised by the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), the competition encourages children to have a closer look at their local rivers and reflect on what the environment means to them. Children from all schools, NGOs, day care centres or associations for children in the Danube Basin are invited to create a piece of art and take part in the Danube Art Master competition, which has united thousands of children from across the Danube River Basin since 2004.

Advancing the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in Southern Africa – a GWP-SADC Collaboration

GWP has been working closely with the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) for over 20 years – the first connection goes back all the way to 1996, when GWP was established. Today, GWP Southern Africa is a recognized implementing agency of SADC, and also a strategic partner. GWP has supported SADC through the different phases of its regional IWRM plan, and currently one of the key activities is implementing a regional Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Approach.

Now Available: GWP in Action 2017

The GWP Annual Report for 2017 – “GWP in Action 2017” – is available online. The report presents highlights from the entire GWP network. "The stories point in one direction: GWP is the multi-stakeholder partnership that delivers on SDG 6 implementation through an integrated approach to water resources management," says GWP Chair Oyun Sanjaasuren in her message in the report.

GWP-Med at the 8th World Water Forum 2018

The World Water Forum, held every three years, is the world’s biggest water-related event, contributing to the dialogue of decision-makers on water at the global level, building political commitment and triggering action on critical water issues. The Mediterranean water community has traditionally been very active at the World Water Forum, voicing core messages and highlighting experiences from the region. This contribution has been concretized through a dedicated Mediterranean Preparatory Process. The 8th World Water Forum took place this year (18-23 March, Brasilia, Brazil) under the overarching theme “Sharing Water” and its more than 300 sessions were attended by 10,600 participants.

Mali validates a water information system

The Joint Support Programme for Integrated Water Resources Management (PCA-Gire), financed by the Netherlands and Sweden in Mali is supporting the development of a water information system in Mali. The Ministry of Water and Energy, through the National Directorate of Hydraulics (DNH), organized, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, a validation workshop of the National Water Information System (Sineau). The workshop aims to identify and correct weaknesses and malfunctions affecting the system in order to make it operational and more efficient.
