Jointly organised by the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), the competition encourages children to have a closer look at their local rivers and reflect on what the environment means to them. Children from all schools, NGOs, day care centres or associations for children in the Danube Basin are invited to create a piece of art and take part in the Danube Art Master competition, which has united thousands of children from across the Danube River Basin since 2004.
The Global Water Partnership is inviting stakeholders to submit nominations for consideration as global independent members of the its Steering Committee. Deadline for nominations has been extended to 7 April 2017.
On Wednesday 22nd March, 2017, GWPSA’s Executive Secretary and Head of Africa Coordination Unit, Mr. Alex Simalabwi, together with GWPSA programme staff attended the United Nations World Water Day Summit and Expo in Durban, South Africa to mark the 2017 World Water Day global celebrations under the theme “Wastewater”. The summit and expo were hosted by the Department of Water and Sanitation, in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government and UN Water.
Sri Lanka Water Partnership (SLWP) organised an interactive webinar on 29 March 2017 in line with World Water Day 2017 with the aim of revamping the existing Emerging Water Professionals (EWPs) Network in Sri Lanka.
India Water Partnership (IWP), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) jointly celebrated the World Water Day 2017 on 27 March 2017 at Water Technology Centre, IARI campus, PUSA, New Delhi, India.
On March 27 and 28, 2017, GWP China organized a capacity building session to help secretariat staff of provincial and river basin partnerships learn "GWP Change Agenda" for strengthening institutional construction in Yunnan Province.
At the GWP CEE Regional Council Meeting held on 1-2 October 2016 in Vilnuis, Lithuania, GWP CEE Council elected Prof. Tomasz Okruszko (GWP Poland Chair) the new Chair of GWP CEE for the period 2017-2018.
There will be three vacant positions on the GWP Steering Committee (SC) to be filled for the November 2017 Steering Committee Meeting, for terms of three years.
