The report highlights the most significant GWP moments of last year in facts and figures – the achievements and challenges that the network was faced with.
“2013 was an exciting year”, says GWP Chair Dr. Ursula Schaefer-Preuss in her introduction of the report.
“I am particularly proud of the significant support that GWP provided to the UN consultations on water security during the year. As part of this support, GWP, in concert with other international players, assessed progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). GWP helped delineate gaps in the post-2015 sustainable development agenda and, specifically, ways to move forward on water that directly address human development outcomes,” says Dr. Schaefer-Preuss.
Looking back, GWP Executive Secretary Dr. Ania Grobicki notes the growth the network has experienced over the past years. Because 2013 was the last year of the 2009-2013 strategy period, there is a special section (p. 32-34) highlighting some of the network’s key achievements during this period.
