GWP’s VISION is a water secure world. Our MISSION is to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

A network of networks, we ensure the ‘voices of water’ can inﬂuence local, national, regional, and global development priorities. GWP Regions

This is where you can find links to the websites of our Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs). RWPs are closest to the countries where we work. They share knowledge and learning across national boundaries and are expected to have an open, inclusive, and gender-sensitive policies for bringing together as wide a group of stakeholders as possible to solve water problems.

GWP in Action 2014 Annual Report

GWP has published its Annual Report for 2014, highlighting network achievements across all regions. “2014 was a rich and inspiring year. We significantly increased the visibility of our growing network at the local, regional, and global level,” wrote GWP Chair Dr. Ursula Schaefer-Preuss in her introduction.

One of the big moments of the year was the launch of the new Strategy “Towards 2020 – A Water Secure World”, which was released on World Water Day 2014 in Tokyo. Another highlight was the launch of the GWP Gender Strategy at World Water Week in Stockholm. The report also mentions the Network’s contribution to the post-2015 development agenda.

The GWP Chair acknowledges that there is still work to be done to shape that agenda: “This is even more the case now that ‘water crises’ are the number one risk in terms of impact on the path of sustainable development, according to the Global Risks 2015 Insight Report from the World Economic Forum.”

But Dr. Schaefer-Preuss looks to the future with optimism: “I am sure that with the continued support of GWP’s Network of Partners we can shoulder the challenges and continue to find ways to safeguard water and, with it, the future of humanity.”

At the end of 2014, GWP had 13 Regional Water Partnerships, 85 Country Water Partnerships, and 3,051 Partners located in 178 countries.
