The Technical Committee Welcomes Three New Members

The Chair of the GWP Technical Committee, Dr. Mohamed Ait-Kadi is happy to announce the arrival of three new members on the committee, appointed by the Steering Committee: Mike Young, Nicole Bernex and Dan Tarlock. In addition, Dr Thomas Panella has been appointed as the Asian Development Bank representative.

Mike YoungProfessor Mike Young holds a Research Chair in Water and Environmental Policy at the University of Adelaide, was the Founding Executive Director of its Environment Institute, is a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society. He is appointed to the Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser Chair in Australian Studies at Harvard University for the academic year 2013/2014. He played a key role in establishing Australia’s National Land and Water Resources Audit.

A. Dan TarlockA. Dan Tarlock is a distinguished Professor of Law and Director of the Program in Environmental and Energy Law at IIT Chicago-Kent. He is an internationally recognized expert in environmental law and the law of land and water use. He has published a treatise, Law of Water Rights and Resources, and is a co-author of four casebooks, Water Resource Management, Environmental Law, Land Use Controls, and Environmental Protection: Law and Policy. 

Nicole BernexNicole Bernex is Professor in the Humanity Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She is the coordinator of GWP’s activities in Peru since 2000 and plays a pivotal role in promoting integrated water resources management in Latin America.

 

Dr. Thomas Panella is Principal Water Resources Specialist at the Asian Development Bank’s Southeast Asia Regional Department, Indonesia, Resident Mission.

The change of Committee membership is effective as of 1 January 2014. Claudia Sadoff, Patricia Wouters and Uma Lele, Technical Committee Members, concluded their terms at the end of 2013. With thanks for their valuable service, GWP wishes them well in their new endeavors.
