SADC convenes Gender Clinic on Project Preparation and Financing

On 25 March 2019, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) convened a Gender Mainstreaming in the Water Sector Project Preparation and Financing Clinic in Johannesburg, South Africa. The workshop, organised with support from the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), brought together financiers, project developers/promoters, project implementers, gender focal points and gender machinery from the 16 SADC countries to discuss practical issues with regards to gender mainstreaming during project preparation and mobilising financing processes.

Launch of Water Supplement at Global Adaptation Week

At the Korea Global Adaptation Week on 8-12 April in Songdo, Republic of Korea, GWP launched the publication, “Addressing Water in National Adaptation Plans - Water Supplement to the UNFCCC NAP Technical Guidelines", and explored new and on-going collaboration with key stakeholders.

Launch of the GEMWET Project

The celebration of World Wetlands Day (WWD) on February 13th, 2019, marked the launch of GEMWET, a MAVA foundation funded project aiming to the conservation and sustainable development of high ecological value of the lagoon of Ghar El Melh in the Governorate of Bizerte in the North of Tunisia.

GWP Celebrated World Water Day

World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. The Buzi, Pungwe, Save Tri-Basin Project

The GWPSA is providing support in preparatory work towards the formation of the Buzi, Pungwe, Save Tri-Basin Institute, through the Buzi, Pungwe, Save (BUPUSA) Tri-Basin Project on behalf of the ministries responsible for water resources in the governments of Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The project implementation is being undertaken by the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) housed in the Administração Regional de Águas do Centro (ARA) Centro Office in Beira, Mozambique. The PIU has been established to assist the main basin integrated water resources management (IWRM) institutions to plan, coordinate, implement, manage and monitor the activities supported by the project in collaboration with national and international partners.

Danube Art Master 2019

Jointly organised by the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), this competition encourages children to take a closer look at their local river, and to reflect on what the environment means to them.
