The Global Water Partnership has partnered with NEPAD Agency, the AUC, and the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) to formulate the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Water support initiative Project (2019-2024). The project aims to accelerate the preparation and financing of transboundary water projects and foster a water-food-energy nexus approach in the development of hydropower projects.
November 11th, 2018 – Today at COP24 in Poland, the Global Water Partnership (GWP) held a Press Conference to provide analysis on its new report “Preparing to Adapt: The Untold Story of Water in Climate Change Adaptation.”
The AIP comprises 6 components aimed at supporting the outcomes of the two-year tenure of the HLPW, relating to creating jobs, promoting industrialisation, and unlocking inclusive, sustainable climate-resilient development and achievement of SDG 6 targets through water security investments that work towards attainment of universal access to safe water and safely managed sanitation across Africa.
On November 10th, 2018 at COP24 – The United Nations Climate Change Conference, the Global Water Partnership (GWP) launched a report entitled “Preparing to Adapt: The Untold Story of Water in Climate Change Adaptation.”
Objective: The objective is to support the efficient execution of the legal, technical, procedural and manage-rial functions required to implement large water investment projects as these frequently consti-tute blockages to development due to their complexity.
Objective: To fully understand the economics of water in a country, river basin or region to determine the real value of proposed investments and their related costs and benefits, and to be better able to motivate infrastructure financing.
Phnom Penh, 11 December 2018 -- The two days Regional Steering Committee Meeting was held to discussed several topics, among others: the accreditation of Country Water Partnership, namely Cambodia WP, Thailand WP, and Lao-PDR WP; Locally raise fund; distribution of GWP’s seed fund; improvement of Operational and Capacity (OPCAP) status; and preparation of the new GWP-SEA chairman.
