On the celebration of the International Women's Day 2021 the ECOWAS Centre for Gender Development (ECGD), the technical and operational arm of ECOWAS for the implementation of the Commission's gender policies in its 15 Member States held a virtual sharing meeting to:

Dario Soto Abril, GWP new Executive Secretary and CEO had a virtual meeting with the staff of GWP-WA Regional Secretariat on 19 March 2021.

A four-member delegation of the Mono Basin Authority (MBA) had a working visit to the GWP-WA Regional Secretariat on March 17, 2021 including the Executive Director, Mr. Nicolas Dadja GNAKPAOU, the Deputy Director, Mr. Razaki SANOUSSI, the two country Focal Points, Mr. Phillipe Armand ADJOMAYI and Mr. Wohou AKAKPO respectively for Benin and Togo.

Faso The international Community celebrated the World Water Day (WWD) on March 22 on the topic of what water means to people.

On 23rd of March, just after the World Water Day, GWP CEE was invited to organize a Communication for Development session at the World Youth Parliament for Water General Assembly event.

On 25 March 2021, GWP-Med organised a training on the newly developed Drin Information Management System. It was attended by 17 representatives from related ministries, institutions, local governments, NGOs and international organizations active within the Drin basin.

The Global Water Partnership Mediterranean GEF/UNDP/GWP-Med project 'Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin' (GEF Drin Project) is making efforts to raise public awareness about the natural wealth and cultural heritage of the Drin River Basin through the celebration of Drin Day 2021.

World Water Day is an important milestone to raise the awareness of water security globally. The theme of World Water Day 2021 is valuing water. The value of water is greater than its price – water has enormous and complex value for our households, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment. Without a comprehensive understanding of water’s true, multidimensional value, it will be challenging to safeguard this critical resource for the benefit of people, environment, and economic development. The Indonesia Water Coalition (IWC) that officially established through the charter signing ceremony on the 29 January 2021 sees World Water Day as an important milestone to achieve water security in Indonesia, which aligns with its vision. Since its establishment in January 2021, the coalition has been focusing on initiating multi-stakeholder collaboration to tackle the growing water challenges jointly. To leverage best practices from each company and organization, we are inviting the coalition’s founding members to share their commitments, achievements, and future-plans to the public via online sharing sessions between 22-31 March 2021. As one of the founding members, Fany Wedahuditama, Regional Coordinator for Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA) shared these discussion topic on the 29 March 2021.

To celebrate World Water Day 2021, Global Water Partnership Southern Africa invited Southern Africa residents between the ages of 18 – 35 to send us an original photo showing the value of water in your community and a 200 word write up with your ideas on how we can collectively guard that value.
