GWP-Med is co-organising a Technical Webinar: “Monitoring Strategies in Transboundary Aquifers: Goals, Methods and Tools - The case study of Skadar/Shkoder – Buna/Bojana Delta transboundary alluvial aquifer”

GWP-Med is co-organising upcoming events focusing on facilitating investments in the water sector, the role of gender in water diplomacy and mobilizing Young Professionals in the fight to meet the SDGs at Cairo Water Week 2020.

It is often said that one of the only times you should look back, is to see how far you’ve come. This is quite fitting as Ms. Simone Lewis, Regional Coordinator of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), celebrates her second anniversary with the organisation.

To further strengthen its institutional capacity, GWP-Congo has operationalized its Technical and Scientific Committee. The pioneer members of the committee were voted in during a meeting held on October 2nd, 2020 in Brazzaville

On 7 October, GWP Chair Howard Bamsey was the keynote speaker in the second of a series of webinars organized by the Asia-Pacific Water Forum (APWF) on the road towards the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit in 2022. He spoke to the topic of "Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Investors: More Risks, More Opportunities through better Governance." His speech focused on how the world can deal with the potentially catastrophic risks of climate change by changing the pattern of investment in the global economy, towards climate-friendly activities.

More than 180 representatives of NGOs, academia, youth centers, schools and media participated in the 2020 Drin Day celebrations throughout all Riparian countries, while more than few thousands attended online, due to this year’s COVID-19 pandemic-imposed limitations.

Coordinated by GWP Eastern Africa and implemented by the Sahara and Sahel Observatory, $13, 079,540 from the Adaptation Fund will go towards strengthening smallholder farmers’ and pastoralists’ resilience to the adverse effects of drought in the IGAD region.

The Strengthening Drought Resilience for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD Region (DRESS-EA) project was launched online on 6 October 2020.

To assess progress made in transboundary water cooperation in Cameroon, the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy in collaboration with UNESCO Regional Office for Central Africa and GWP Cameroon organized a two day multi-stakeholder consultation workshop in Mbalmayo, Cameroon from the 3 - 4 September 2020.

We are inviting all GWP CEE Partners to the Annual Network Meeting of GWP Partners 2020, which takes place online on 21-22 October, under the theme ‘Bringing the Change’. As part of the Network Meeting, the Partners have the opportunity to comment on the GWP in Action 2019 Annual Report and the GWP Annual Financial Report 2019.
