
A WACDEP Burkina team met on August 19 the AEN team to discuss a kick off project for the involvement of the CWP in the Master plan. The mission aimed also at starting anew the consultations for the development of bancable projects in the basin.
According the WACDEP manager the CWP support will focus on water resources and climate change. And in this context the CWP has already supported the AEN in the development of the Massili local water committee (CLE Massili), in the development of the SDAGE and bankable projects that address new issues.
The National Youth Parliament for Water and Sanitation in Benin organized on August 26, 2015 with the support of the Benin Country Water Partnership (CWP Benin) and GIZ, in Cotonou, a workshop to validate the report of the national consultation on the place of youth in the governance of water and food security in the context of climate change. The workshop was attended by several youth organizations, the Advisory Body for Youth, public institutions and technical and financial partners involved in the water sector, food security and climate change in Benin.

Within the context of implementation of WACDEP in central Africa, GWP Cameroon in collaboration with GWP-Caf organized in Douala, Cameroon, from August 26th - to 28th 2015 WACDEP project capacity building workshop for national institutions and water organizations on “project preparation related to water security and climate resilience”.
The 3 days’ workshop brought together planners in ministries from Cameroon, Chad and Gabon and water professionals from Country Water Partnerships like Cameroon, Central African Republic and Sao Tome and Principe.
The main objective of the workshop was, on the one hand to introduce stakeholders the different project preparation key steps, integrating water security and climate resilience in conformity with the funders’ requirements, to know better the financial institutions and also to plead for integrating water security and climate resilience into development planning process and on the other hand to develop no/low regret investment and financing strategies
The GWP Technical Committee has launched three new Technical Focus Papers and introduced a Background Paper. This took place at an event in Stockholm on 28 August. The event was live streamed and a recording of this will be available shortly.
The GWP CACENA Regional Council Meeting was held on 3-7 August 2015 in Batumi, Georgia (Hotel Alik).
